Once you have done what is required and passed a test you become a licensed electrician. It is then you can decide what type of electrician you want to be. Most think that it is a pretty straightforward career but there are a lot of different things that you can do with your license. It is up to you to choose what area you want to spend your time in or maybe you do a little bit of everything. Below are the big categories of being a Boise electrician that you can choose from. 

Industrial 

Being an industrial electrician means that you are working for larger companies and their equipment. This would include factories, mines, power plants, and more. Typically you are dealing with a lot of large machines that are within these facilities. This field usually requires a little more experience because it is a large and complicated machine that you are working with. Some examples of this would be working for a  car manufacturer. Working on all the machinery that it takes in order to make a car. This category of being an electrician can seem intimidating but with experience, it becomes less so. 

Commercial

This is also working for companies but ones that may not be quite as complicated. These would be large office buildings, department stores, and most businesses. This still takes a lot of skill as when these buildings are going up you may be asked to help with the electrical plans to ensure that all the power needs for the business will be met. Enough lighting, refrigeration, outlets and so much more go into the plans of a building when it comes to the electrical. Such as a Walmart store has a lot of electrical needs and took a significant amount of thought and time in order to fulfill all the needs. 

Residential

Every home needs to have electricity in order for it to provide some basic comforts such as lighting or a dishwasher. This may include new builds, installs of certain appliances, or repairs of things within a household. This also covers apartments, condominiums, and any kind of space that is meant for individuals to live within. There may also be times you are asked to come to wire a basement that needs to be finished or add an electrical outlet in a room. There is a wide range of things that are needed within a home that you would be able to help with. 

Auto 

An electrician that is not thought of often but is needed is one that can work on vehicles. This is a more specialized job because you have to have an understanding of how vehicles work. How the parts of the vehicle are dependent on each other in order to run smoothly.
