The Araba, which is Turkish in origin, is primarily bred for riding and pulling carriages. Araba literally means “horse-wheel carriage”.

Physical Characteristics

The small Araba breed stands between 12 and 13.3 hands high (48 to 53 inches, 122-134 centimeters),  birds facts and has beauty and elegance that is often reserved for horses of the royal family. However, beauty is not the only thing that makes this breed special. The Araba is agile, strong, fast, and muscular. This makes it ideal for pulling heavy loads or riding carriages over long distances.

Histories and Background

The Araba, also from Turkey, is a direct descendant the Anadolu. It was created with the sole purpose of producing horses that could pull carriages. The breeders made sure that the best parent stock was chosen to produce the ideal traits for the job.

These horses are still used in Turkey today. In some areas, automobiles are not practical and horse carriages are better suited to the terrain. However, carriages pulling by the Araba are not allowed in large cities.

Physical Characteristics
