What happened during my kidney stone days

I can’t describe the pain I used to feel when I had kidney stones. I didn’t know that I had kidney stones actually, but I remember the pain and how I was feeling like I am dying but I can’t do anything. My parents used to call the ambulance to take me to the emergency room, where they used to give me a shot to remove the pain. But after a while, the pain recurred and I have to feel the same pain.

So my dad called the family doctor, who works at Novomed Centers, and asked to book an appointment with him so he can have a health check-up on me. I remember it was the day after I had my third kidney seizure. So I went with my dad to see the doctor and my dad explained to him what happened, and how he took me to the emergency room and the shot I got there.

The doctor asked to do some tests, and when he saw the results, he immediately transferred us to a urologist at Novomed Centers as well, so he can help diagnose my case better. We went to see the urologist after our doctor talked to him and told him it is an urgent case. When the urologist checked the results, he asked me if I have seen any blood in my urine, I told yes sometimes. Then he came close to me, and checked my lower back with his hand, asking me to notify him whenever I feel pain, and I did so when he was close to my kidneys.

He told us that most probably it is a stone in the kidney Disease that irritates it and it needs to be treated immediately. But before that, he wanted to be sure 100%, so he asked me to do an ultrasound scan and a kidney X-ray, so he can diagnose the case better. We agreed, and I went to do the X-ray and the ultrasound, then brought the results to the doctor. He checked them, then showed us the very small stone, but it is stuck in the kidney, that is why I feel the pain and experience multiple seizures.

So he told us that we have 2 options, either I follow a treatment to help the stone get out of the kidney through the urinary tract, or I can have a quick surgery to remove it. My dad decided to keep the surgery as our last choice, and I got the treatment to let the stone get out of the kidney. Although it was painful, the stone went out in 4 days.

I am very grateful to the urologist and Novomed, and till now I keep consulting him regularly to make sure that I am not suffering from any new kidney stones.
