Xiaomi is the fourth largest mobile manufacturing company in the world. This is because it makes really amazing phones at budget-friendly prices. Their phones have a premium touch and have given a tough competition to Samsung. Today, we will compare two phones from this brand – Xiaomi Mi 4S and Xiaomi Redmi Pro.
Design and Display:
Xiaomi Mi 4S comes with a metallic body. It has a screen size of 5 inches, which is smaller than that of Xiaomi Redmi Pro. Xiaomi Mi 4S has the dimensions of 139.2 (H) x 70.7 (W) x 7.8 (T) mm. It is also light in weight and weighs 133 grams. It will be available in four colours – black, white, gold and pink.
Xiaomi Mi 4S has a screen size of 5 inches which is Full High Definition(FHD) with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It uses IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 441 pixels which is really impressive. Larger pixel density means better and sharper pictures. The screen to body ratio is 69.87 %.
Xiaomi Redmi Pro also comes with a metallic body with a larger screen size of 5.5 inches. It has the dimensions of 151.5 (H) x 76.2 (W) x 8.1 (T) mm and is bulky with the weight of 174 grams. It will also be available in four colours –gold, gray, silver and black.
Xiaomi Redmi Pro also has Full High Definition (FHD) with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It uses OLED display and has a lesser pixel density of 401 PPI. The screen to body ratio is 72.07 %.
About the appearance, there is no branding on the front side for either of the phones. Above the display, there is a 5MP for both the phones with some sensors. On the right side lie the power and volume keys for both the devices. There is a hybrid SIM lot on the left side of the both the phones which means you can either use one SIM and MicroSD card or both SIMs and no SD card. Again, both the devices have the USB TYPE C Port at the bottom. In Xiaomi Redmi 4S, below the display lie the three capacitive keys which are backlit. In Xiaomi Redmi Pro, there is a home button, which also acts as a fingerprint sensor.
Flipping the devices, the back cover is non-removable for both the devices. In Xiaomi Mi 4S, there is a 13MP primary camera at the back with LED flash next to it. The camera module is located at the top left corner. There is also a fingerprint sensor at the back. In Xiaomi Redmi Pro, there is a 13MP and 5 MP dual camera at the back and the Dual colour LED flash below it.
Performance:
Xiaomi Mi 4S is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 MSM8992 chip whereas Xiaomi Redmi Pro is powered by MediaTek MT6797 chipset. Xiaomi Mi 4S runs on Hexa Core 1.8 GHz, Dual core, ARM Cortex A57 and 1.44 GHz, Quad core, Cortex A53 processor. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi Pro runs on Deca Core 2.1 GHz, Dual core, Cortex A72 and 2 GHz, Quad core, Cortex A53 and 1.4 GHz, Quad core, Cortex A53 processor. They both get the power from 3 GB RAM. For graphics, Xiaomi Mi 4S has Adreno 418 GPU and Xiaomi Redmi Pro has Mali-T880 MP4 GPU.
Software:
As per the specifications, none of the devices will run on Nougat out of the box. Xiaomi Mi 4S runs on older Android Lollipop (5.1) whereas Xiaomi Redmi Pro runs on Android Marshmallow (6.0). Both will have the MIUI on top to enhance the features of Android.
Camera and Storage:
Xiaomi Mi 4S sports a 13MP primary camera with CMOS image sensor. It also uses phase detection autofocus and has an aperture of 2.0 F. This device captures video at 1920×1080 @ 30 fps
Xiaomi Redmi Pro sports dual primary cameras of resolution of 13MP and 5MP. It also has CMOS image sensor and uses phase detection autofocus. It captures video at 1920×1080 @ 30 fps, 1280×720 @ 120 fps.
Both the devices lack optical image stabilization. They both have the image resolution of 4128 x 3096 Pixels. Photos of both the devices are enhanced by dual tone LED, autofocus, exposure compensation, Face Detection, High Dynamic Range (HDR), and Touch to Focus. They both have a similar front camera of 5MP with an aperture of 2.0f. Both the devices lack front flash.
For storage, both the devices use a hybrid memory card slot. Xiaomi Mi 4S has 64 GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 128 GB. Xiaomi Redmi Pro has 32 GB internal memory which can also be expanded up to 128 GB.
Battery and Connectivity:
Xiaomi Redmi Pro is ahead of Xiaomi Mi 4S with a 4050mAH battery. Xiaomi Mi 4S, on the other hand, has a 3260mAH battery. Both the devices have a non-removable battery and lack wireless charging. Xiaomi Mi 4S supports quick charging 2.0.
For connectivity, both the devices have dual SIM with a hybrid tray. Both the devices have 4G in both the SIMs, but only Xiaomi Redmi Pro supports VOLTE.
The Verdict:
Xiaomi Redmi Pro has a dual primary camera and a bigger battery than that of Xiaomi Mi 4S. Xiaomi Redmi Pro also supports VOLTE. Xiaomi Mi 4S, on the other hand, has supports quick charging and has bigger internal memory.
Xiaomi Mi 4S price is projected at Rs.17990 while the Xiaomi Redmi Pro is expected to cost Rs.14, 990. If your primary consideration is a camera, then Redmi Pro is better, but if you are looking for more memory, then you can consider Mi 4S.
