Each of us generates, on average, almost 400 kg of junk per year. A part is incinerated or buried; another part is recycled, like glass, which is remitted and reused, or even paper. Junk management is now very organized, and taxpayers must follow the guidelines issued by local authorities. We will see with you what these sorting rules are. (Knowing that they may vary slightly from one local authority to another)
The household junk bin:
It is called a residual junk bin simply because you should only throw in it what cannot be recovered in any other way. This is how you should not put glass in it since it is part of a specific collection, cardboard, green junk, etc… in the other trash can. Of course, it must also not contain objects listed as dangerous and/or polluting, toxic or flammable, paint cans, batteries, and others. Objects falling into bulky items have no place there, either.
It can collect the leftovers from meals (unless you make your compost). Non -recyclable packaging (the lists vary according to the municipalities and evolve). Baby diapers and more.
Landfills:
The panel of objects that can be deposited in these structures is wide. It also varies from one recycling center to another, particularly about dangerous or flammable pollutants, because sometimes only some of them can collect them.
Landfill
But in general, they can all accept the following objects or materials. Wood (including furniture and bedding), cardboard and paper, furniture , mattresses, junk containing electronics or electrical components, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, glass , textiles, tires , oils (engine/gearbox or cooking oils), batteries, rubble , green junk(pruning residues, lawn mowing, dead leaves) as well as special household junk (solvents, stain, paint, acids, aerosol containers, ink cartridges, remains of phytosanitary products)
Bulky items:
A distinction is made between bulky items and other junk because these can be removed at home according to a pre-established schedule in many municipalities. The rules may vary depending on the municipality. Some do not even organize collections (often in small rural communities). In this case, the inhabitants must bring them to the recycling center since objects considered bulky are all accepted there. Therefore, the following list partially overlaps that of the objects accepted in the recycling center.
Therefore, these heavy or bulky objects are difficult to transport in a private vehicle: Large household appliances such as refrigerators or gas stoves. Furniture, bedding, and bulky objects (bathtub, water heater, etc.). They are excluded from the lists, green junk, rubble, dangerous products, and objects that can be brought to the recycling center without any problem.
