Jun 29, 2022 (FOCUSGUILDS2015) Three Americans were found dead at the Sandals resort located on the Bahamas’ Great Exuma island on the 6th of May died because of carbon monoxide poisoning, authorities in the local area declared Tuesday. “At this juncture of the investigation, we can officially confirm that all three of the victims died as a result of asphyxiation due to carbon monoxide poisoning,” the Royal Bahamas Police Force announced in a press release. “This matter remains under active investigation.”

There was no evidence of trauma discovered on the bodies according to police earlier told CNN that they had not found any signs of trauma, in addition, Bahamian interim Premier Chester Cooper had said foul playing was not suspected. Police refused to discuss the reason for death of the three US citizens as reported in the latest news release.

The Americans -The Americans – Michael Phillips, 68, and his wife Robbie Phillips, 65, from Tennessee as well as Vincent Paul Chiarella, 64 who hails from Florida — passed away in the course of one night. Chiarella’s wife Donnis 65, was transported by air to the capital of the nation, Nassau to receive further treatment prior to being transported to Florida.

The couple had both been complaining of being sick the night before and were examined by medical personnel, Bahamas Police Commissioner Paul Rolle stated in May, and had eaten in various places. The victims were discovered unresponsive in their rooms following allegedly seeking medical assistance due to feeling sick the previous night. The couple was discovered by staff in separate villas the next morning, and alerted police.

The wife of Chiarella, Donnis, was briefly hospitalized , but was later released.

There’s been continuous speculation on what could have caused the deaths, and there’s been investigations into food served. Many guests have reported an odor that was strongly reminiscent of insecticides. The possibility of leaks coming from the AC and the water heater that is on the property are being examined.

The families of deceased tourists demanded another independent autopsy, in addition to the one conducted performed by an Bahamian doctor, the nation’s minister of Health and Wellness said in an interview with Eyewitness News last week. “There’s an ongoing investigation in Sandals Resort. Sandals resort. There are also pathologists here in the country who have completed their work and the samples were sent to a reliable laboratory within the United States,” Dr. Michael Darville said, according to Eyewitness News.

Sandals Resorts said in a statement to CNN at the timethat “Nothing is more important to Sandals Resorts than the safety of our guests,” and also expressed “deep sadness” confirming the deaths.
